Confidence, speed and accuracy

IN LOW OR NO LIGHT SITUATIONS THE GLOCK 43XMOS WITH SHIELD RMSC AND STREAMLIGHT TLR7SUB OFFERS AN INCREDIBLE LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE.

By Chris Edwards

The GLOCK 43XMOS pistol offers the same superb performance as it bigger GEN5 relatives. The heart of a firearm is its barrel, and the GLOCK Marksmen Barrel (GMB) provides unmatched accuracy in a slim, subcompact pistol. The GLOCK Safe Action trigger system is recognized worldwide as safe and efficient. The G43XMOS is one of GLOCK’s Slimline pistols, with a magazine capacity of 10 rounds. Magazines are supplied with high visibility orange followers. The frame features an integrated beavertail and reversible magazine catch. With its slim profile, the GLOCK essentially disappears for comfortable, all day carry. The slim frame profile permits basically all personnel to operate the pistol with speed and accuracy. The G43XMOS slide has forward serrations for additional control and manipulations.

BOTH EYES OPEN

A superior firearm deserves the latest in sighting technology. The G43XMOS has a slide precision machined to accept a Shield Reflex Mini Sight Compact(RMSc). There are several advantages: first, the red dot RMSc provides more information to the operator in stressful situations. Being able to have both eyes open increases situational awareness exponentially. Next, the RMSc sits low on the slide allowing easy standard sight acquisition. Finally, the RMSc has a clear optic which means no degradation of vision. Battery powered, the dot is on for over two years in normal use.

LIGHT ACTIVATION ON THE DRAW

Defensive pistols are often deployed in low or no light situations, for example in a home in the dark of night. In years past, it was often recommended a flashlight be readily available to permit target location and identification. It is much more efficient, however, to have a light already attached to the handgun. Streamlight, a world provider of lights specifically designed a light to be mounted on the GLOCK Slimline pistols: the TLR7-sub. This light attaches quickly and securely to the Slimline rail. The switching is ambidextrous, and easily activated with either hand. The light is rated at 500 lumens, and has a 1.5 hour runtime. The TLR-7 sub is a definite compliment to the package.

GLOCK operators have assembled the above components and run them quite successfully. In training on a darkened indoor range, the TLR-7sub was easily utilized to locate and identify threat targets in near total darkness. Concealed carry draws and subsequent light activation on the draw was quick and easy. This is much preferable to having to juggle a separate hand held light and pistol. The other overwhelming advantage was the inclusion of the optical sight. With both eyes open for dot acquisition, more visual information could be taken in and processed for safety and efficiency. The red dot sight establishes a single point of focus-on the potential threat, as it should be.

HIGHEST LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE

The Slimline 43X frame certainly affords better manipulations. This contributes to confidence and accuracy. Reloads are on par with larger models, and control at emergency speeds is basically indistinguishable from the larger GLOCKs. Accuracy has to be almost seen to be believed. For example, one operator put two rounds into an approximate 2 inch/4cm group at 15 yards. Speed and accuracy are of critical importance in emergencies, and the Shield RMSc offers a measurable improvement in performance. With the Streamlight attached, a trained and practiced operators scores in low or no light situations are nearly identical to those in normal lighting conditions. This level of performance is simply not possible with older style equipment.

“Off duty”, the G43XMOS with Shield RMSc and TLR-7 sub light attached can be securely stored, yet instantly ready in an emergency. There is no need to search for a light-it is already attached to the GLOCK.  Awareness is assured with the Shield RMSc mounted and active. END
